Abandoned Maximum Security Prison Filled With Inmate Files

This abandoned prison dates back to when it was built in 1929. It served the area as a maximum security prison for approximately 85 years before closing its doors in 2015. The prison had its fair share of notorious inmates through the years. It also had a reputation of violence, corruption, illegal restraints, overcrowding, police brutality, and other forms of inmate abuse. Several inmates also died in the prison while in custody, causing outrage and protests. Eventually the prison became more of a hotbed for crime than an actual solution to crime. State officials closed the prison for good in 2015 and it still sits vacant today.
