Originally built by a local successful businessman, the huge 3 story and near 5,000 sq ft home featured 14 different rooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The most significant architectural feature of the home was the 3 story spiral staircase that led all the way from the main floor up into a tight little enclosed nook surrounded by windows, where one could easily relax while having an unmatched view of the entire city below.
It appears that a Russian dentist and his wife, who was a registered nurse, purchased the home after moving to the area in the 1950s. Shortly after moving in, the Russian dentist decided to partner up with his wife to open their own private dental practice. The husband would be the dentist and the wife would be the nurse and the bookkeeper. Although it seems to have been a small dental clinic, the couple were still successful enough to have a good name in the local community as well as enjoy retirement, after operating the dental clinic for over 30 years.
After retiring from the dental practice, the obviously brilliant Russian man became basically obsessed with radio broadcasting and as a hobby to help him pass time during his golden years, he eventually opened his own radio station in the 1980s. The former dentist was now a radio station producer and broadcaster, as he would go on ranting for hours on end about the health care system and even some conspiracy theories regarding Health care in America. He continued his radio show right up until he eventually passed away around the turn of the millennium. His now widowed wife was left to live in the massive home all by her lonesome, so she eventually moved out.
The over 160 year old home has now sat abandoned ever since, slowly decaying away with the passing of each day. One of the most incredible finds from inside this old run down mansion was that quite shockingly the majority of the Russian man’s radio production and broadcast equipment was still set up as it was when he passed away over 20 years ago.
